Thousands of students have come and gone already, but they were only like the waves that continue to roll in and break on the crystal white sands of Panama City Beach. It won't be long and soon they will be followed up by seemingly endless waves of families coming enjoy the beach, scuba dive, swim with the dolphins and take advantage of a city designed for fun.
This is Panama City Beach. Once you're out there on the beach you won't want to leave. The sand actually squeaks under foot as you walk. The water is emerald green and sparkling clear and inviting. One thing you need to remember about the beach though; if you're going to be there for any real length of time you're going to need to bring plenty refreshments with you, as at least two determined guys I saw did. It seemed the more popular seats on the beach were the coolers people brought out for the day’s festivities.
Out behind Pineapple Willy's there was always a group playing volley ball, others running and tossing footballs, while most seemed content to hang out, soak up the sun and watch the endless stream of walkers along the surf. Up the road a ways, in a bit more isolated spot, there were a couple of kite surfers racing along the waves and getting air as they would turn around and jump the waves.

As we headed back all the guys in the car saw the Sling Shot and had to get out and give it a try. What a blast! Right behind them were several girls determined to not be out done and were buying tickets as we left. As we were getting into the car to leave we turned around at their screams which demanded the attention of everyone within ear shot.
Panama City Beach is a town that has mastered catering to the crowds with an amazing variety of places to go and things to do. On the trip home the boys were making their plans for a soon return and making their wish list of all the things they didn't have time to do this trip. Me? I am making sure I bring a fishing rod back with me….. and maybe the kayaks too.
